Situated between Amsterdam and The Hague is Leiden, a beautiful town vibrating with student life, since it houses the oldest university in the country.

Leiden is the place where the Pilgrim Fathers lived for 11 years, before departing to Massachusetts with the Mayflower in 1620. We will follow in their footsteps to the place where they lived, near the Pieter church.

The famous painter Rembrandt spent his youth in Leiden in the early 17th century. His father was a miller and at the location where the family lived still stands a similar typical Dutch windmill. We will also pass by the school Rembrandt attended.

A visit to Leiden can be combined with a visit to The Hague.
